A while back, I got contacted by Biz X and asked if I’d like to be featured in an upcoming issue that talks a lot about the artistic community in Windsor.  I jumped on the opportunity to be featured in such a prominent business magazine, and they made getting involved in their magazine very easy.

Hi everyone. Just a few weekends ago I was out photographing at a beach and I wanted to try out a neat thing I learned called HDR (high dynamic range). To sum up what this is, it will give you good exposures between the highlights, midtones, and shadows in an image when you take your photograph.

Here are the results of my HDR first shots:

This week was the last week that I was teaching at the Centres for Seniors in digital photography and how to use a digital camera. For our last week of class, we took a field trip to the riverfront to take all the knowledge we learned and put it to the test. The results we got were excellent. I’ve posted a few of them below. Thanks to Centres for Seniors as well as the Sandwich Community Health Centre for organizing this, and I hope to return in the near future to teach more classes! Take care.

This week in our digital photography course at Centres for Seniors Windsor, we discovered how to use the SCN function on our digital point and shoot cameras. There’s a variety of settings in that function for different scenarios, such as night time shots, sports shots, and even fireworks! Also everyone learned how to hook their digital camera up to a computer through it’s USB cord.

We went out to test a few of the functions for the last half of the class. Here’s what I picked up with my D50. Next week for the final class we will be learning how to record video with our camcorders, as well as taking a trip to the river front to get some really great photos! See you all next Wednesday.

Here’s the photos I took at this week’s centres for seniors digital photography course. This 5 week course was designed to help those who have digital cameras but don’t know how to use them properly learn the features and also impove their composition. This week we learned how to use the Macro feature, which is common on most point and shoot cameras nowadays. It allows the camera to focus on things short distances away, without flash, so that small details and textures are captured within the photograph. Everyone did a great job, and some fabulous photos were printed at the end of the class. Great job everyone! I should’ve mentioned this earlier, but I’m currently teaching a course at the Centres for Seniors Windsor in Digital Photography Basics. The course is five weeks long, and covers using all the functions of basic digital point-and-shoot camera. I’ve got 10 students, and we had a great time learning about basic shooting, reviewing the images, deleting the ones we don’t like, and also using the zoom feature. We also had a small field trip across the street and took some great photos at a local park. I brought my camera along, and here’s what I picked up. Great class guys, and I’m looking forward to next week! Take care.
