About Engagements…
At my studio, I make sure that you have the best options for your engagement shoot. You get your choice of in studio photos, or at a location of your choice. I usually recommend the latter, as it makes a lot greater photos at a location that’s memorable to you. We’ll capture a number of photos, and you get to choose which ones represent you best. These are great as gifts to family, photos for the newspaper, and many other things (see “What you can do with your Engagement Photos” below).
Why do Engagement Photos?
I get this question every now and then, and so to clarify this, here are my top 3 reasons to get an engagement photoshoot:
- Let’s Chat!
The engagement photo shoot is a great way for us to get to know each other before the wedding. It can be pretty awkward for us both if I show up to photograph your wedding and have only met you once briefly at your booking appointment! It’s important that you are comfortable with my style and I know you on a personal level so your wedding images can truly reflect your personalities and your relationship. - Capture both of you
I’m sure you and your fiance have a lot of photos together, but are they done in an environment that complements both of you? Are your clothes complementary of eachother? Are you having fun in the photo? With an engagement photo shoot, you get a professional making sure that your moments together are captured and represented accordingly, so that down the road a few years, you can look back and remember those precious moments from before you were married. - Share your celebration
You hear about love stories all the time in movies, books, and in everyday life, but you don’t hear about your own love story very often. With your own personal love story, sometimes it’s not easy to show others just how happy you really are with the person you’re with. An engagement photo shoot will let you share the great moments you will have beyond mere words, and you’ll be able to show everyone just how much your loved one means to you.
Engagement Photography products from JZ·P
Without going into too much detail, there are a number of products available for your wedding involving your engagement photo shoot. Just to give you an idea, you can have them on your wedding invitations, guest cards for the reception, or even have a custom guest book designed with your photos in them.

What you can do with your Engagement Photos?
Outside of showing them to family and friends, here’s a quick list of all the cool things you can do with your engagement photos….
- Make a news paper announcement – This is still pretty cool, and your parents will remember when it was such a great thing to put your photo in the newspaper!
- Post your photos on Facebook – you’ll get a special set of photos from your engagement photo shoot to put on Facebook so that you can show all your friends.
- Make a display for your reception – a few brides of mine have decorated their greeting table at the reception with a number of photos from their engagement. This can be done simply with frames, a matte that people sign when they enter instead of a guest book, or your own creative design.
- Get a custom designed guest album – One thing that is really special is to have your engagement photos in a custom designed guest book. Your wedding guests will be able to go through it, look at all your engagement photos, and write you a special note right in a designated area in the book. You’ll be able to see their kind words, plus have them beside your engagement photos for great memories.
- Get a wall portrait – You’ll have these images in a High Resolution format that will allow you to make any size print you’d like, from wallet size up to wall portraits. These photos can also be incorporated as part of your wedding album as well, to help tell your story.
